Beginning in the spring of 2017, the City of Eugene worked with a number of community partners on specific strategies to make Downtown Eugene’s public spaces more safe, welcoming and vibrant. The efforts are monitored and evaluated throughout each year, with the most data collected during the busy summer season. Data was collected through a variety of means, including interviews with downtown partners, a community survey and mapping activities in our public spaces.
Make comfort, safety, and social services a priority in the downtown.
Activate the public spaces to attract a critical mass of residents, especially families and children.
Make physical improvements that will reduce crime, support positive activation, improve visibility and access, and enhance comfort.
