Parks and Recreation Security and Maintenance Funding City Council Subcommittee
At a Work Session on July 26, 2017, the City Council approved the creation of a subcommittee to discuss parks and recreation security and maintenance funding.
Gain a better understanding of current Parks and Recreation operations and maintenance (O&M) funding, including safety and security.
Explore various funding mechanisms that could address the gaps.
Consider how to maximize use of System Development Charge (SDC) dollars that are currently limited by a constrained O&M budget.
Consider how O&M funding can keep pace in the future with additional capital improvements and system growth.
Bring information to a City Council Work Session to inform Council’s discussion about Parks and Recreation O&M funding.
The subcommittee members include: Councilor Mike Clark, Councilor Greg Evans, Councilor ClaireSyrett, Councilor Chris Pryor, Scott Sanders of the Eugene Parks Foundation, and Hugh Prichard of the Parks & Recreation System Plan Advisory Group.
The first three meetings took place on Wednesday, August 16, Wednesday, August 30, and Tuesday, September 26.
The next subcommittee meeting is scheduled for noon on Friday, October 27 in the Singer Room of the Eugene Public Library.
