The rates for commercial food waste collection are set at 20% below commercial garbage rates. The idea is that businesses will be able to reduce their trash container and then pay for food waste at the discounted rate – after this they are likely to pay a minimal cost, break even or save money. On April 15, 2019, The City of Eugene’s commercial food waste collection program shifted to a food only model based in part on changes to accepted materials that were made by commercial composting facilities in our area. You can find more information on Eugene’s commercial food waste collection program on our webpages.
