FY 2020 Standards of Response Coverage

Standards of Cover 2020By definition, a Standards of Coverage report addresses the emergency response resources and deployment strategies necessary to deliver a defined level of emergency service. The primary goal is to portray a snapshot of the current complement of emergency services delivered in a community, identify how they are performing, and reflect on future initiatives to increase efficiencies in the delivery of these services.

You Can Help Save a Life

A free CPR smartphone app called PulsePoint is now available to the Eugene Springfield Fire service area. The PulsePoint app alerts subscribers who have indicated they are CPR-trained to a sudden cardiac arrest event. The alert is triggered by the 9-1-1 dispatch center at the same time that our firefighter paramedics are dispatched. The app uses advanced GPS technology to notify subscribers within a quarter mile of a cardiac arrest event. ”CPR trained” can be knowing how to administer Hands-Only CPR (no rescue breaths).

The app also directs subscribers to the location of the closest public access automated external defibrillator (AED). The app is only activated for cardiac arrest events in public places (not a private home).

You can find the PulsePoint app in your smartphone app center.

Young Women’s Fire Camp

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Young Women’s Fire Camp 2020 has been cancelled.

This week-long day camp is open to young women between the ages of 16 - 19 years old. The camp will be held at the Emergency Services Training Center at 1705 W. 2nd Ave in Eugene (2nd & Chambers). As in years past, there is no charge to attend the camp.

The Young Women’s Fire Camp is designed to simulate a mini fire and emergency medical services academy, with a focus on teamwork, confidence building, leadership development, and life skills in a fire-based environment. Led by a dedicated team of our department’s female firefighter/paramedics, the participants will experience activities such as vehicle extrication, rappelling, forcible entry, hose dragging, wall breaching, physical fitness training, live fire-fighting and basic emergency medical treatment and scenarios. In addition to our staff, we partner with the Eugene Police Department for personal safety awareness instruction, and invite local community leaders to speak on topics which inspire and challenge these young women.

For more information regarding the Young Women’s Fire Camp, please visit our Youth Camps page, send an email to, or call us at 541-682-7135.
