- Work in neighborhoods to promote safe and responsible transportation habits
Oregon22 & Riverfront Festival
As Eugene welcomes the world in the once-in-a-lifetime global event or the World Track & Field Championships (Oregon22) the City of Eugene is working in tandem to create an event that is the cornerstone of a “never before experienced city celebration,” The Eugene Riverfront Festival at the new Downtown Riverfront Park. Our vision is to celebrate Eugene and Oregon and serve as the primary “experience hub” during the WCH Oregon22. The Eugene Riverfront Festival is an opportunity for Eugene to welcome visitors and celebrate the diversity of cultures that make up our city. Learn more on the event page.
As part of the Riverfront Festival the City is hosting a “Transportation Hub” with Valet Bike Parking, Bike Share Station, transportation information booths, and a fun interactive space. We are also supporting a “Bike Ambassador” program that will get people out into the community to help people explore and find their way to all the great events happening during the 10 days of Oregon22. Shifts will be 2-4 hours and you’re welcome to sign up for as many days/times as you’d like.
smarttrips is a unique program that provides a comprehensive approach to promote alternatives to driving alone. Each year a new neighborhood is selected for the program, and residents are provided informational literature, free prizes, fun events and organized programs. smarttrips provides a fun, interactive way for residents in the target neighborhood to reduce their drive-alone trips and increase the number of trips taken by:
- Carpooling or sharing rides
Our goal is to provide community members in the target neighborhood with the materials and tools they need to get around Eugene in a variety of ways. A wide range of transportation options allows people to save money, improve their health, and improve the health of their community. smarttrips hands-on and interactive programming is proven to increase biking, walking, public transit ridership, carpooling and car sharing.
SmartTrips will be in South Central Eugene this year. Stay tuned for more information.
