Hult Center Overview Portlet

Hult Center at DuskThe Hult Center for the Performing Arts
, built by the City of Eugene in 1982, is the largest comprehensive performing arts center between San Francisco and Portland. An anchor facility in downtown Eugene, the Hult Center houses two beautiful performance spaces -  the 2,500-seat Silva Concert Hall and the intimate 500-seat Soreng Theater. In addition, the Hult Center houses the Jacobs Gallery, an award-winning visual art gallery and The Studio, an attractive rehearsal hall/multipurpose space. Both lend themselves perfectly to receptions and unique events.

The Hult Center is currently home to seven performing arts Resident Companies and the Hult Center's own unique performing arts series, Hult Presents. It is proud host to a wide variety of events: performances by the Resident Companies, touring commercial entertainers, Broadway shows and Hult Presents performances, many local arts groups’ performances, fundraisers, graduations, recitals, seminars and meetings. Operated by the City of Eugene, the Hult Center consistently hosts 700-800 events per year. Paid attendees average about 166,000 per year.

SHO (Support HultCenter Operations), the Hult Center's membership volunteer organization, offers valuable services to the community. Every second and fourth Thursday from January  through May, SHO sponsors free concerts at 11:15 am in the Hult Center Lobby.

The community can enjoy the talents of many local performing arts groups as well as offerings by the Resident Companies. The concerts serve a wide public, including community members who may not have financial resources to attend ticketed events. In addition, SHO offers free backstage tours of the Hult Center, Thursdays and Saturdays at 1:00 pm from October through May.    thi is an image from the Hult Center SHO case series
