LRCS Welcome

Welcome from Renee Grube, LRCS Executive Director….

Through thousands of activities and programs offered year-round, the Library Recreation and Cultural Services Department builds community. We support an informed society, offer opportunities for lifelong learning and health, and provide cultural experiences that nurture the soul.

The customer-friendly LRCS staff creatively develops a variety of opportunities and programs to suit a broad range of ages, interests, and abilities. We invite you to discover these programs at our libraries, community centers, pools, Hult Center and Cuthbert Amphitheater.

Renee Grube
Executive Director AIC

Mission Statement: The Library, Recreation and Cultural Services Department’s mission is to enrich the lives of Eugene citizens through diverse opportunities where discovery, creativity, personal and community growth can flourish; where people can experience the open exchange of ideas; where individuals, families and neighborhoods can feel connected to their community; and where all citizens have full and equitable access to lifelong learning, recreational and cultural experiences.

A Few of the experiences that LRCS makes possible:

  • An array of live theatre performances that delight audiences young and old.
  • Adaptive technologies that can help people with disabilities read, hear, play and create.
  • Programs that help young minds develop, young bodies move gracefully and young talents blossom.
  • Fun and games that prompt belly laughs and life-long friendships.
  • Opportunities to see and meet local, national and international artists and authors.
  • Physical challenges that build camaraderie, character and good health.
  • Hundreds of thousands of materials to read, view, hear, learn by, and enjoy.
  • Hours of structured and supervised activities that nurture youth, encourage their love of learning and keep them safe. Visual arts exhibits and education that open doors for local artists.
  • A way to connect to the world and a universe of resources.
  • Community gathering places and a culture of inclusiveness where all are welcome.
  • Thousands of free activities and events accessible to everyone in the community.

LRCS touches everyone.
