    911 - Central Lane Overview
    911 - Central Lane Overview

Mission Statement: Central Lane 9-1-1 is the communications gateway for regional emergency services.  We connect citizens with the public safety services they need.  We calmly guide callers through crisis, obtain and relay vital information, and provide radio support to fire, police and emergency medical responders.

    Welcome to Central Lane Communications!

Central Lane Communications was established as a regional consolidated communications center in April 1985.  Previously operating from Eugene City Hall, the 9-1-1 Center moved to its own building in September 2000. We are now located at 1735 W. 2nd Ave, Eugene.

Organizationally, Central Lane Communications is part of the Eugene Police Department's Technical Services Division.  Captain Steve Swenson is the Technical Services Division Manager and his responsibilities include division level management for 9-1-1, Records, and Operation/Crime Analysis.  Pamela Collett is Central Lane Operations Manager.  Her responsibilities include 9-1-1 operations oversight (regional call taking & dispatch), policy, quality assurance, section budget, personnel hiring, training and retention.  Kristi Wilde is the Central Lane Program Manager.  Her responsibilities include regional coordination, emergency preparedness, section budget, work plans, and oversight of the technical side of the operation (radio systems, telephone and computer aided dispatch).  The Center's operational policies and procedures are governed by a PSAP User Board.  The PSAP User Board consists of representatives from local agencies.

    Members include:

    • Central Lane Communications Technical Services Division Manager
    • Central Lane Program Manager
    • Chiefs from Eugene Police, Springfield Police, and Coburg Police
    • The Lane County Sheriff
    • Regional Commander for the Oregon State Police
    • Eugene Fire & EMS Chief
    • Springfield Fire & Life Safety Chief
    • Two Fire Chiefs from the East and West Districts of the Fire Defense Board

Central Lane Communications is jointly funded by the City of Eugene General Fund, fire dispatch user fees, and the State's 9-1-1 telephone tax.

    Call Load

As a Center, on average, we make and receive between 1,300 and 1,600 telephone calls a day.  Of those calls, about 200 result in calls for service for the Eugene Police Department and about 120 calls result in Fire/EMS dispatches in Lane County.  In a typical day, 100 calls for service are also self-initiated by the Eugene Police Department. Self-initiated activity includes traffic stops, patrol checks, person stops, etc.

If you have an emergency or active in-progress incident, call 9-1-1For more information about Central Lane 9-1-1 please call (541) 682-2771 or send email to the Central Lane 9-1-1 Administration Office
