Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan Update – South Hills Study Area
Eugene transportation planning staff kicked off a collaborative process to identify options for new and improved pedestrian and bicycle facilities in Eugene’s South Hills in August of 2008. A working group consisting of interested parties, including staff from Transportation and Parks & Open Space, the Crest Drive Community Team, Greater Eugene Area Riders, and representatives from each of the five neighborhoods in the study area are participating in the update process. Neighborhoods included in the first step of the citywide update include Churchill Area Neighbors, Crest Drive Citizens Association, Fairmount Neighbors, Laurel Hill Valley Citizens, and Southeast Neighbors.
The working group is tasked with evaluating gaps in the pedestrian and bicycle system in these neighborhoods and identifying potential solutions for addressing these gaps. The working group is also responsible for soliciting and documenting public input during the update process. Staff will follow a similar process for other neighborhoods within the City of Eugene.
Citizen input is welcomed throughout the process. Interested citizens are welcome to attend working group meetings and speak during the public comment period, as well as provide suggestions via this website. Neighborhood representatives will bring comments and conerns to the update committee for discussion.
