Answers to Zoning & Nuisance Questions
Zoning and Nuisance Administration
Through education and enforcement, we work with community members to:
Maintain and improve community livability.
Support healthy neighborhoods.
Enhance community beautification.
Protect natural resources.
Ensure compliance with state and local codes, policies and goals.
We provide information to the general public and individuals affiliated with specific development projects; and investigate complaints and enforce compliance in the areas of tree and natural resource preservation, nuisance standards such as junk and debris, development standards for property and buildings, smoking standards, camping, lighting, signs and such zoning issues as animals and home occupations. We rely primarily on requirements from chapters six and nine of the Eugene Code, adopted by our elected officials.
We make public health and safety a priority. We also aim to provide exceptional customer service by emphasizing a cooperative, problem-solving approach; striving for professionalism and respect in all situations; being timely in our responses to inquiries and complaints; and balancing consistency and flexibility to provide equitable, reliable service. We have provided an online form to make it easier for you to file complaints. For general information, you also may call our Land Use Enforcement line at 682-5819.
