Property Crimes Reduction Initiative

Turn Up the Heat On
Property Crime!

EPD’s New Crime Prevention Initiative

Contact West Patrol                                                       Contact East Patrol

Join EPD in the Fight Against Property Crime. EPD’s Property Crime Initiative relies on data-led policing and that affects everything from 9-1-1 dispatching to police calls for service and follow-up. Your eyes and ears are important to this effort! EPD re-engineered the way it deploys and dispatches officers and detectives so they are focusing their energies on chronic crime and repeat property offenders in an orchestrated effort to reduce crime. This requires a collaborative relationship with prosecution and corrections officials, as well as with you. Earlier in the year, Crime Prevention personnel were re-staffed from a stationary model where they were available for public visits at front counters to one where they are projecting their efforts directly in those neighborhoods where crime is occurring to help businesses and residents protect themselves from criminal offenders. The initiative’s pre-emptive and preventive approach is a form of community policing geared toward making it more difficult to victimize Eugene residents and guests.
