ELECTIONS

The City Recorder and staff coordinate and administer the city’s municipal election activities including receiving filings from candidates for the positions of mayor, councilor and Eugene Water & Electric Board. The Recorder’s Office processes initiative, referendum and recall petitions. The City Recorder prepares elections schedules; files measures for the ballot; and certifies the final election results. A Eugene voters’ pamphlet is published for elections with city measures on the ballot and includes information on city measures and candidates. Information concerning the Eugene Water & Electric Board and School District elections also may be included.

Upcoming Elections

PROSPECTIVE REFERENDUM PETITION

A prospective referendum petition on Ordinance 20434 concerning motor vehicle fuel dealers’ business license tax and repealing Section 3 of Ordinance No. 20337 was filed On Wednesday, July 29, 2009. The Ballot Title, Question, and Summary prepared by the City Attorney is available at right.

 

Any elector dissatisfied with the ballot title may within seven days (until 5 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009) file with Lane County Circuit Court a petition for review of the ballot title.


ELECTION 2009

No regular election is scheduled in odd-numbered years. Special election dates are established by the State of Oregon and include March 10, May 19, September 15, and November 3.


ELECTION 2010
____________________________


The next regularly scheduled election in Eugene is the May 18, 2010, Primary Election. Nominating petitions for the following officers will be accepted by the City Recorder’s Office between March 27, 2009, and March 4, 2010:

                Eugene Ward 3 City Councilor

                Eugene Ward 4 City Councilor

                Eugene Ward 5 City Councilor

                Eugene Ward 6 City Councilor

                EWEB Commissioner Wards 4 and 5

                EWEB Commissioner At-Large
