    Citizen Ride-Along Program
    The Eugene Police Department's Citizen Ride-Along Program is intended to bring the police department and the community closer together. Interested citizens have an opportunity to ride with one of our officers during a portion of his/her regular shift. Ride-along request forms are available from the program's coordinator at 541.682.8188.

    Crime Prevention Presentations
    Crime prevention presentations are available to any group of twelve or more citizens, anywhere in the city, usually at no charge. See topics at right, or request a customized class! Consultations are also available to individuals. For more information, call 541.682.5137 or
    email the Crime Prevention Unit.

    Trespass Letter of Consent Program
    A Trespass Letter of Consent (TLC) is a specifically-worded legal document which allows a police officer to take enforcement action against trespasser on your behalf without contacting you first. For more information about this program,

    Rental Property Program
    The Rental Property Program (RPP) helps Property Managers/Rental Properties with problem tenants, and helps make managers more aware of what is happening on or around their properties. For more information about this program,

    Eugene Police crime prevention specialists can come to you! Presentations can be provided anywhere in the city, usually at no charge. Topics include:

    Confrontation Management
    How do you determine what to do about threatening people? This seminar provides some preventative options, as well as guidance on intervention and de-escalation.

    Neighborhood Watch, Apartment Watch and/or Business Watch
    Learn how to start a Neighborhood Watch program. We'll walk you through the steps to get you organized and will facilitate your start-up meeting.

    Women’s and Children's Safety
    Learn about sex offenders, who they target, and steps you can take to be safer. Domestic Violence may also be briefly covered.

    Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
    This specialized field focuses on making environments functional, with safety as a secondary outcome.  CPTED consultations are available to public and private groups and individuals.

    Neighborhood Revitalization
    City staff work in partnership with neighborhood groups to rebuild neighborhoods at risk.

    Other Services and Seminars
    Dealing with bomb threats
    Preventing or responding to robbery
    Preventing or responding to shoplifting
    Preventing or responding to workplace violence
    Child safety
    General consultations

    Classes can be tailored to particular groups, such as a mother-daughter class in women’s safety. Home safety inspections, business safety inspections, and individual consultations are also available free of charge.
