As part of the Property Crimes Reduction Strategies, the Crime Prevention Unit will be focusing their efforts in the area of Aerial Way, off Barger Dr., Thursday, January 28, through Sunday, January 31. These efforts will include operating a mobile police station in various locations in the area and contacting residents, door-to-door, offering crime prevention information and services. The team’s main prevention focus will relate to burglaries, thefts from vehicles, and thefts of vehicles. Services at the mobile police station will include the opportunity to: · register for the new Combat Auto Theft (CAT) program · register bicycles · purchase a “Club” steering wheel locking device · get information about the Crime Prevention Specialist assigned to that area, and · get answers to general crime prevention and safety questions The hours of operation will be: Thursday 1/28 & Friday 1/29 from 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday 1/30 & Sunday 1/31 from 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. A similar operation, in the area of Kinsrow/Commons in December 2009, was found to have a significant impact on crime in that community.
