Sign up now for September computer classes at the Downtown Eugene Public Library. All classes are free, but pre-registration is required for limited spaces. Classes are:

 

·         Managing Digital Photos, Thursday, September 2, at 6:00 p.m. Learn how to upload, download, organize, and share photos by e-mailing or creating online albums with the free website Flickr.

 

·         At Introduction to Computers on Saturday, September 4, at 10:00 a.m. Beginners will learn the basics of the computer system and how to use the mouse and the keyboard.

 

·         Job hunters can get information and support at Job Search & Resumés on Sunday, September 12, at 4:00 p.m. Learn how to research opportunities and create an effective resumé. Discover free Library tools such as Microsoft Word's Resume Wizard, the Oregon Career Information System, and LearningExpress (practice exams). Plus Internet resources including Craigslist, Monster.com, and the Oregon Employment Department website.

 

·         Get started researching the family tree at Genealogy on Saturday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m. Discover online Library tools HeritageQuest and Ancestry.com, and free websites including US Genweb and Cyndi’s List. Get tips on searching the U.S. Census and ordering vital records. See the Library’s newest books of hard-to-find information, too.

 

·         Save time and money with tips from The Inside Scoop: Your Library Catalog & Card on Sunday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m. Learn powerful, convenient tricks to get the most out of the catalog and your library card. Find exactly what you’re looking for, fast. Get e-mail notices about new items in your areas of interest; place a hold for one volume in a series of books or TV episodes; suspend requests when you’re busy or away, while keeping your place in line; keep a reading history; pay fines online; and more.
