A public meeting will be held Monday, July 11, to gather comments on proposed improvements to River Avenue between River Road and Beltline. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the River Road Park District Annex, 1055 River Road. The July 11 meeting is part of an outreach process currently under way in response to direction from the Eugene City Council that additional efforts be made to work with the community on the design of River Avenue improvements. At the request of local property owners and neighborhood groups, the council in April directed staff to work with the community to modify the planned improvements. The agenda for the July 11 meeting includes a review of the stakeholder process currently under way, a brief staff presentation on a design previously prepared for River Avenue, and plenty of time for comments on specific design elements and questions about the project. Later this summer, a group of stakeholders will convene, and the comments and suggestions received during the input phase will be reviewed. The stakeholders and staff will work toward consensus on a preferred design alternative. In October the Council is scheduled to consider the results of the outreach to the community and a recommended design concept for River Avenue improvements. # # # |
