Neighborhood Services staff helps neighbors collaborate on local issues. The work improves Eugeneans’ sense of connectedness and community, thus contributing to quality-of-life factors such as community safety. Service staff provides a conduit for other City services to share information and gather input about service changes, capital improvements, and the local impact of City-wide policy decisions.
Neighborhood Services supports the City’s 19 residential neighborhood associations. The City serves as publisher for the associations’ newsletters and other public information activities. Neighborhood Services staff attends association meetings and answer questions about City programs and policies. They help the associations’ members and the City organization collaborate on issues.
Neighborhood Services staff also coordinates the Neighborhood Matching Grants Program and supports the Neighborhood Leaders Council. Two other volunteer activities that promote neighborhood livability, the Safe Communities radar volunteer program and the Good Neighbor Agreement process, are also supported by Neighborhood Services.
