City of Eugene Equity and Human Rights and Police Issue 2013 Hate and Bias Report
Each year, the City tracks both criminal and non-criminal hate and bias behavior and issues a report. This is the second year the comprehensive report has been released. According to the City of Eugene’s Hate and Bias Incident Response Plan, the Equity and Human Rights Office is responsible for collecting statistical information on both criminal and non-criminal hate and bias activity and providing victim support and community response to hate and bias activity in the City of Eugene. Eugene Police Department takes reports and investigates criminal activity.

Overview
The Equity and Human Rights Office is responsible for fielding discrimination complaints related to housing, employment, public access (including accessibility requests and grievances), and City contracts that occur within the City of Eugene. The office also provides victim support and community response to hate and bias activity.

In addition, Equity and Human Rights Office staff support the Human Rights Commission, the Accessibility Advisory Group, and work closely with Neighborhood Services and the City’s Sustainability Office to address community-based human rights issues in a comprehensive and inclusive way.
