About the Library
The Eugene Public Library supports an informed community, lifelong learning and the love of reading by providing access for all city residents to the universe of ideas and information.
The Library provides a variety of informational, educational, and recreational material to 4,000 patrons every day.
- The Library's collection, available at all three locations, includes: audiobooks, books, CDs, downloadable music, DVDs, eBooks, newspapers, magazines, cultural passes, and electronic resources.
- Library staff provide research assistance and reading suggestions in person, by phone, or via instant message chat.
- Each year, the Library sponsors more than 900 free events for all ages.
- More than 100 computers are available; they offer access to the Internet, the Info Hub online resources, and Microsoft Office products.
- Many services are available 24/7.
For the past three years, the Library has been rated a "Star Library," placing it among the top three percent of public libraries for excellence in delivering key services per dollar.
The Library Advisory Board serves to provide citizen input and to advise the Library on policy, services, and Library development. Current Board members are: Mark Crossler, Jennifer Geller, Mary Hochberg, Jenny Jonak, Angela Peacor, and Natalie Reeves.
The Library bases its service on the philosophies stated in the American Library Association's
Bill of Rights and
Freedom to Read Statement.
