However, drains can get backed up or clogged with leaves, garbage or sediment and will flood the nearby section of street during heavy rains. Also, if you notice any toxic materials -- including automotive fluids, paint or spilled garden chemicals -- spilled where they pose a threat to a nearby storm drain, please let us know.
Remember, stormwater is not filtered before it reaches local streams and rivers, so these materials pose a threat to water quality.
