Housing in the City of Eugene
The City’s primary role is to allocate funds (federal, local and private) toward housing solutions in Eugene. Allocations for new construction and acquisitions most often take place through a public request for proposal (RFP) process. Eugene does not own, operate, build or manage housing.
Low-Income Housing
Since 1979, Eugene has acquired sites for future low-income housing. These sites are critical to the success of local housing efforts because site control is vital for obtaining other subsidies. The City also has a history of granting property tax exemptions and assistance with permit fees for public purpose housing.
