Gallery at the Airport
Lane Community College Presents:

Madeline, an exhibition sponsored by LCC Art Gallery, Lane Community College, Eugene, Ore.

Madeline is a series based on life experiences. As a child, one is compelled to search out new experiences to understand life and gain knowledge. yet as one develops and moves forward there is a loss of innocence. Through this imagery, the artist tries to capture the struggle of discovery and the desire to hold on to the power of childhood.

About the Artist:

Jennifer Salzman has been a photographer for 25 years, showing work regionally and nationally. Originally from Wisconsin, she completed her MFA at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She has lived in Oregon for the past 11 years with her husband and three daughters. She has been an instructor at Lane Community College for ten years in the Department of Art and Applied Design.

About the Gallery at the A

LCC Art Gallery display at the GATAThe Gallery at the Airport opened in November 1994 on the second floor landing of the Eugene Airport terminal building. The Gallery is a permanent space for exhibitions of visual art and artifacts reflecting the artistic and cultural resources of the region. It provides an artistic greeting for businesses and leisure travelers, strengthens the image of the region as rich in cultural assets, and supports the visual arts and the creative work of our regional artists.

Located on the secure side of the terminal building, in a 600-square foot open area at the top of the escalator, the Gallery at the Airport features professional art display panels, pedestals with locking Plexiglas covers, and lighting. The main exhibit focus has been on presenting original work of local and regional artists, but has also featured presented works from collections of local and regional institutions or artwork by outside artists when related to a major event in the Eugene area. The Gallery had a captive audience of approximately 800,000 total passengers traveling through the Eugene Airport annually.

Guided by long-time supporters Randy Stender and Dottie Chase, the Gallery at the Airport is currently managed through a consortium of local non-profit arts organizations; including the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA), the Emerald Art Center, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Jacobs Gallery at the Hult Center, and the Lane Community College – Division of Arts.
