Gallery at the Airport
Lane Community College presents:
Couples in Art, an exhibition sponsored by LCC Art Gallery, Lane Community College, Eugene, Ore.

Artists spend much of their lives creating work that is inspired by experiences. Memories of times past, contemporary issues that shape the now and future thoughts that consist of hopes, dreams and even fears.

What if on this journey of reflection, you were lucky enough to have a partner whose own experiences are expressed through the creative process as well... How do those creative forces existing side by side begin to influence and effect one another?

Couples in Art is an exhibition that allows the viewer insight into what is shared between couples who are both Visual Artists. It is an inside look into the influences that the artists and the work have on one another and how the final outcome is a unique experience of collaboration.

About the Gallery at the Airport
The Gallery at the Airport opened in November 1994 on the second floor landing of the Eugene Airport terminal building. The Gallery is a permanent space for exhibitions of visual art and artifacts reflecting the artistic and cultural resources of the region. It provides an artistic greeting for businesses and leisure travelers, strengthens the image of the region as rich in cultural assets, and supports the visual arts and the creative work of our regional artists.

Located on the secure side of the terminal building, in a 600-square foot open area at the top of the escalator, the Gallery at the Airport features professional art display panels, pedestals with locking Plexiglas covers, and lighting. The main exhibit focus has been on presenting original work of local and regional artists, but has also featured presented works from collections of local and regional institutions or artwork by outside artists when related to a major event in the Eugene area. The Gallery had a captive audience of approximately 800,000 total passengers traveling through the Eugene Airport annually.

Guided by long-time supporters Randy Stender and Dottie Chase, the Gallery at the Airport is currently managed through a consortium of local non-profit arts organizations; including the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA), the Emerald Art Center, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Jacobs Gallery at the Hult Center, and the Lane Community College – Division of Arts.
