Campaign Finance Information

  CAMPAIGN FINANCE INFORMATION

Candidates must establish a campaign account and file a Statement of Organization unless all three of the following conditions are met: 1) the candidate serves as the candidate’s own treasurer, 2) the candidate does not have an existing candidate committee, and 3) the candidate does not expect to receive or spend more than $300 during a calendar year. Effective January 1, 2007, these statements must be filed electronically with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office.

Both Candidate Committees and Political Action Committees (PACs) must file contribution and expenditure transactions regularly with the Oregon Secretary of State.  A link to the 2008 Campaign Finance Manual that describes these requirements and includes complete instructions for the filing process is available through the Reference Library on this page.

In 2002, the Eugene City Council implemented a voluntary program to encourage City candidates to limit campaign expenditures and contributions. Details about that program can be accessed through the Library links at right.
