If you have a fast Internet connection, you can view a video demonstration about the map. |
Click the pictures of the adjacent tools to view more details in this topic below, or simply scroll through the topic. The red outline indicates which tool is selected. In the picture of the tools, Zoom In is selected. In that case, there's no need to click the Zoom In icon to use it with the map. |

Zoom In – Displays a closer view of the area on the map that you click or drag in.
After you click Zoom In on the toolbar (if necessary), do one of the following:
Click the center of the area on the map where you want to look closer.
Drag to create a rectangle around the area you want to zoom to, as with the map of the River Road Community Organization neighborhood below.

For the example above, after you click or drag, the map redisplays and looks similar to this:

Aerial view – With the Zoom In tool, when you move in close enough to a neighborhood, an aerial photograph replaces the map.
Zoom in by clicking the map several times, or by dragging. If you create a small rectangle with your dragging motion, the photo displays with less steps.
Once the photo displays, repeat the zoom actions to make areas of the picture even bigger.
The picture below shows the eastern edge of the Friendly Area Neighbors neighborhood, with Civic Stadium on the left.

Zoom Out – Displays a longer distant view of the area on the map that you click or drag in. Zoom Out is similar to Zoom In, only in reverse.
After you click Zoom Out, click, or drag, an area of the map.

Pan – Moves the display in the direction you drag the pointer. (Press and hold the mouse button while you drag the mouse pointer.)
![]()
Zoom to Full Extent – Zooms the map outwards, displaying the entire area of the map, with the selected neighborhood distinguished by a different color.
When you click Zoom to Full Extent, the new view occurs automatically.
In the picture below, the selected River Road Community Organization neighborhood displays in a color different than the other map area.

Scroll arrows – Move the display in the direction of the arrow.
Click an arrow at the map's edge to shift the map view in that direction.
