View the Zoning Maps page
On the Planning Zoning Maps page, use two methods to display zoning:
Type an address or map tax lot number to find zoning for a specific site.
Use map tools to zoom in and view zoning for an area on the map. Click for details
Search for a specific site
1 On the Search tab, do one of the following and click Submit:
Type either a full or partial Address.
Type both the Map and Lot number. View example

Search Results tab displays with one or more addresses, or with a message indicating the search could not match your entry.
Important address notes The more complete the address you enter, the more the program narrows your search and the more likely it will list the address. Read more about this
When you search with a partial address, the search can return only up to 50 addresses at one time, based on the partial entry. The address you are looking for may not appear in the list of 50 returned addresses.
Wild card in search Including a "wild card" (the percent symbol % ) in your search string gives a partial address search the potential of locating the address you want. The search program replaces the percent symbol with characters it finds in addresses.
View examples of a wild card and other search notes
For
example, if you're searching for an address in the 1300 block of Jefferson,
typing Jefferson returns just
50 addresses of all the possible addresses that include "Jefferson"
in the address. None of these first 50 addresses listed are in the 1300
block.
A
wild card (the percent symbol % )
allows you to narrow the search: 13%
Jefferson displays all addresses in the
1300 block:
The program looks for characters anywhere in the address. In a search for Valhalla Street, val finds Avalon Street; Valh finds Valhalla.
Search
looks for consecutive numbers,
which can be at the beginning, end or in the middle of the address. Search
with 12
returns this list:
Include directions. W 10th returns a different list of addresses than E 10th .
You can use more than one wild card in a search, anywhere in the address string.
2 On the Search Results tab, click Select at the end of an address line.
The program
Zooms
in to the map, if necessary, and indicates the selected property with
diagonal lines:

Displays zoning information on the Site Info tab below the search area.
Displays, at the bottom of the page below the Base Zoning map, the Overlay Zone map. The area in the Overlay map corresponds exactly to the Zoning area. View more about overlays
Use map tools to define an area on the zoning map
When necessary, click a tool to use it. The red outline indicates which tool is selected. In the picture of the tools below, Zoom In is selected. In that case, there's no need to click the Zoom In symbol to use it with the map.

Important Step 2 below involves using the Point Selection tool. Currently (Feb., 2008), the program does not display the Point Selection tool for you to use until you select a specific property by clicking Select on the Search Results tab. (See Step 2 above in the "Search for a specific site" section.)

1 With the Zoom In tool selected, do one of the following to get a closer view:
Click the center of the area on the map where you want to look closer.
Drag to create a rectangle around the area you want to zoom to. View example
When you drag to create the rectangle below . . .

. . . the program zooms in to a view similar to this picture . . .

Notes
Repeat the action (drag, or click the map) to zoom in closer.
To display zoning information for a specific property in the Site Info tab, zoom in close enough to distinguish individual tax lots large enough for the Point Selection tool to select just one lot. See Step 2 just below.
2 Click the Point Selection tool, and click a tax lot.

Overlay Zones
If additional regulations beyond the base zoning affect a property, that information displays in the Site Info tab and in the Overlay Zones map at the bottom of the page. The Overlay map corresponds exactly to the Zoning area displayed above it. The map tools have no effect on the Overlay map.
The pictures below relate to a property
that is part of two overlay zones
. . . and the Overlay Legend
near the map shows how the zones display on the map

The map displays the property with the color and the lines:

Display related City Code section
The zoning page provides links to zoning and overlay descriptions in the Eugene City Code.
Once
you select a property, click the City
Code link on the Site Info
tab.

The program displays a separate browser window with the appropriate City Code section.
Note
To learn more about the application that displays
the City Code, and how to print the displayed Code page, click the Help link at the top of the page.
