2009 Leaf Collection Progress

The interactive map to the left shows the progress of the leaf collection program. Daily leaf collection reports are collected at the end of the work day and are entered into the map the following morning. To customize the information about leaf collection progress, select the time range in the “date” pane and select the date you would like to review. Viewing options include individual days for the past week and a “view all” mode. (Note: the progress report only updates information for the current collection round.) As streets are completed they are identified by the shaded areas outlined in black. The leaf collection update site is intended to help residents forecast when crews might be in their neighborhood. Typically, crews will work in a systematic pattern as they work through a particular collection area. We hope that this tool will help you in anticipating when you might see a leaf collection crew in your neighborhood. Once leaves have been collected in your area, do not place more leaves in the street until the weekend before scheduled collection in your area. If you think crews have missed leaves in your area call 682-4800.

Public Works crews collect leaves in every Eugene neighborhood from November through January. Unimproved streets are picked up only during second round. The city is divided into five geographical areas, allowing the leaf collection crews to move from one section to the next in an orderly fashion. The first round of leaf collection in 2009 takes place November 2 through December 24. The second round of leaf collection begins on December 28 through mid-January.

Leaf collection crews are the same staff that respond to flooding, snow and ice, windstorms and other Public Works emergencies. At any time, crews and equipment may be reassigned to respond to emergency events. It is our goal to stay on the published leaf collection schedule. In the event that our schedule needs modification due to unforeseen circumstances, schedule updates will be provided through various media outlets.
