Cultural Services in Eugene

The mission of Cultural Services: To enrich the cultural life of the region.

Cultural Services is a part of the City of Eugene's Library, Recreation & Cultural Services Department (LRCS) and oversees the following committees, facilities and programs:

Cultural Services Advisory Committee (CSAC)
Cultural Policy Review (CPR)
Cuthbert Amphitheater
Community Arts
Hult Center for the Performing Arts
Hult Presents
Public Art Program
Summer Concerts in the Parks

This is an image from the Hult Center LobbyCultural Services offers a wide range of programs benefiting the residents of Eugene. These include: Hult Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Eugene (with its Silva Concert Hall, Soreng Theater and The Studio), the Cuthbert Amphitheater, and free Summer Concerts in the Parks. Community outreach to local schools (K-12), Lane Community College, University of Oregon, social service agencies and organizations benefit the residents of Eugene. In addition, the Hult Center’s own programming series, Hult Presents, offers discounted tickets to youth, students and seniors.

Summer Concerts in the Parks, managed by Cultural Services, features free outdoor concerts in various City-owned parks from June to September. Concerts feature a variety of music styles that appeal to various communities within our region.

An exhibit at Jacobs GalleryThe award-winning Jacobs Gallery, a public/private partnership, provides free access to as many as 12 annual exhibits of visual art produced by well-known artists in the region, and is featured on most First Friday ArtWalks.

The Cultural Services Advisory Committee (CSAC) advises Cultural Services management on planning, policy, and the Resident Company Program for the Hult Center. CSAC members provide important community representation in Cultural Services planning and serve as citizen advocates for arts and culture in the community. This is an image from the CPR

The Cultural Policy Review is the City's first in more than two decades. The objective is to collaboratively review current conditions, services and gaps and to identify community-supported options that will assist the City Council in defining the City's ongoing role in the arts and culture.

Hult Presents Outreach with Martha Graham Dance CompanyHult Presents, the Hult Center’s own programming series, serves the Eugene community not only by offering world-class performing arts events that would otherwise not be available in Eugene, but also by offering creative educational workshops presented by professional actors, dancers, musicians and teachers; free full-length performances for students, and much more. All must meet Cultural Services’ mission to bring the arts to all residents. This is an image of a sculpture from the City of Eugene Public Art Collection

The City of Eugene's Public Art Program inlcudes maintenance of the City's indoor art collection, management of the Public Art Trust Fund, and coordination with other City departments and community groups in the planning, selection and acquisition of new public art for capital construction projects.
