Eugene's Changing Landscape
Tuesday, September 25
An illustrated talk by horticulturist, forest ecologist, landscape designer, and UO instructor Whitey Lueck.
An illustrated talk by horticulturist, forest ecologist, landscape designer, and University of Oregon instructor Whitey Lueck. For thousands of years preceding Euro-American settlement in the mid-1800s, the future site of Eugene was largely treeless grassland.
Now, except for areas that are paved or covered with buildings, the landscape is mostly tree-covered. What happened? Why? How might the Eugene landscape change in the coming decades and centuries?
This Eugene@150 event is co-sponsored by Eugene Public Library, Mount Pisgah Arboretum, and MUSE: Museums of Springfield/ Eugene.
