Parcade Garage Cleaning - Nov 19-20

Eugene’s downtown parking garage, the Parcade, was built in 1975. On November 19th and 20th between 7 am and 10 pm it will receive its first full exterior cleaning in 40 years. The cleaning will help prolong the life of the structure and improve its appearance.

Parking will be available in the Hult Center Parking Garage on Olive Street on levels 2 and above.

ePark, the City’s Parking Services program, has contracted with Snugs Services and Crystal Cleaning, to power wash the exterior, parking deck, and inside walls or the garage, as well as the perimeter sidewalks and adjacent alley. The interior cleaning will be scheduled for later this year.

During the upcoming exterior cleaning:
  • Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the Parcade but they will be able to exit.
  • Any vehicles parked near exterior walls will be requested to move to protect them during the power washing. Vehicles parked along the interior of the garage can stay.
  • Any vehicles parked near the exterior that are not moved will have a large plastic barrier bag placed over them to provide a level of protection.

In order to safely clean the half-city block sized garage, certain streets and lanes will be closed to traffic during the process.

  • The southbound lane of Willamette and the adjacent south travel lane on 7th Avenue will be closed on November 19.
  • The north travel lane on 8th will be closed from Willamette to the alley on the 20th and the alley between 7th and 8th will be closed on the 20th.
  • The sidewalks on Willamette between 7th and 8th, those on 7th and 8th from the alley to Willamette will also be closed on the 19th and 20th.

In keeping with the City’s sustainability goals, the process will use high pressure hot water and environmentally friendly solvents. Water runoff will be captured and processed through a custom built filtration system and any residue will be transported by the contractor for disposal.
