Rates, Specifications and Due Dates

The City of Eugene Recreation Division publishes three editions of the Recreation Guide each year: summer, fall, and winter/spring. Each edition includes programming and events for all ages and abilities, from babies to baby boomers, including youth, families, outdoor enthusiasts, swimmers, adults, seniors, adult team sports, and adaptive recreation for individuals with disabilities.

All of the editions include information about Recreation’s ongoing or continuing activities, such as dance classes, adult social gatherings, and swimming lessons. The Summer Guide, which lists activities from June 1-Labor Day, also includes popular summer camps, free and low cost events for families, and a variety of seasonal outdoor activities. The Fall Guide lists events from Labor Day-Dec. 31, and includes holiday activities. The Winter/Spring Guide lists activities from January 1-May 30 and includes spring break camps.

16,000 copies of paper guides are printed for each edition. Of those, more than 8,600 are mailed to Eugene residents who have asked to be on our mailing list. The remaining paper guides are available for pick up at more than 40 public locations throughout the city. In addition, some 14,500 patrons have signed on to receive an email notice that the virtual Recreation Guide has been posted to the Recreation website instead of a paper guide.

The target market for the Recreation Guide is current and potential participants in Eugene Recreation programs and their families. In FY2013, participants in Eugene Recreation activities topped 620,000. Sorted by program area that is: Youth and Family, 196,000; Aquatics, 226,000; Adult Athletics, 950,000; Senior Programs, 79,000; and Adapted Recreation, 26,000.

Although some events are “drop in”, most require the user to register, and they rely on the Recreation Guide for information about those classes/activities.

To reserve ad space in the Recreation Guide, complete the online form, including an electronic signature, and send to Recreation Services on or before the camera-ready due.

Advertisements must be camera-ready to the size specifications above. For the paper guide, color is available only on the full page back cover and two specific pages inside; all other ads are B&W. Ads in the virtual guide are in color at no extra charge; just send a color version with your B&W ad.

All ads must be professional constructed. Substandard ads or ads that do not comply with the specifications will not be published. Space reservations may be made at any time. Camera ready ads are due as follows:

Winter/Spring 2017

Advertisements will be invoiced on the press date for each edition; payment will be due within 30 days of the invoice date.
